Come Back…

The clouds were somehow dancing relentlessly above my head. There were also a few spots where a crystal blue color was smiling hope. It was quiet. Too quiet. Too quiet for the shouting thoughts from my head.

I was alone. Too alone for an enormous world filled with so much life. And yet death awaits for me. Inevitable end with little care for my future.

On this island, my island, the present mingled with the past and with the de-ja vu of a shattered future.

My only treasures were the memories, the cracked reminders of my former self, the images of people I met, people I knew, I loved…

The picture of her…

Standing in the rain wearing a black dress and carrying around a rose-red umbrella. The city was all gray, lost in some sort of sad fog. Big raindrops were hitting the ground like meteorites on the surface of a barren planet. A universe without emotions…

And she was standing there waiting. But not for long. In a few seconds her image vanished. And I found myself once again stranded on a rocky island, too alone, too sick, too old and too late for a happy ending.

As I closed my eyes I whispered “Come back…”.

But she never returned…

[Inspired by the story of Dear Esther, which I replayed last night]

Penumbra

Dark corners of consciousness

Flies all over corpses

Angry eyes waiting for us in shadows

No escape, no future, simply no…

Once in… there’s no guarantee you’ll ever get out.

Penumbra.

 Nor light…nor dark…only fear…

A sad story, a tragic story… a true story of a man captive in an ethereal nightmare, with no friends, with no food, with no plan to escape reality. A destiny infatuated by broken glass. A boy – Tom Redwood – worker in a mine – trying to get the best out of him.

And the man who is seeking answers – a man who desires to know the absolute truth. Part confident, part curious – he descends into what seems an abandoned mining system somewhere in Northern Greenland. But what awaits him is far from a good and perpetual life. The answers he seeks only bring out more questions and doubt.

Silently, he discovers horrific truths about what that place hid from the outside world.

Dust, rotten wood, rusty metal – spider web, silence – a silence of terror – whispers from beyond the grave and details about the tragedies that occurred here. Confusion, lost temperament, isolation, extreme measures – all in one place. What’s the darkest secret that you can handle.. .what’s the pint of no return.. .who is behind all that faded gray shades?

The hero – Philip – who seeks answers – only receives more question marks. There are signs of life – but a misused one – someone gets killed — some unknown force leaves behind a trail of blood. Some feral creature appears. It’s all becoming a survival option. Prey…predator – all connected in this twisted game.

Someone was here before – lost – forgotten in the dark. Rescue didn’t come. He was able to live eating spiders. These spiders grew larger and in the end they were capable of destroying the human being from the interior of this man. Solitude at its best – the man become obsessed then he lost his mind.

What if there’s no escape?

What if there’s more to it than it seems?

What if the correct answers won’t appear?

What if…?

Welcome to Barrockstadt

Do you know what I miss most…summers in which I didn’t left my home for days just to play video-games. Fresh air…lemonade..music…peacefullness. I might sound like some sort of weirdo..woow..spending summer inside..well..the air was cooler in there..the freshness of everything..the green plants all around my house..everything made perfect sense. Now… and then I changed between what I played. In the evening was Diablo..the joy of hunting down demons.

In the afternoon was Left 4 Dead..zombiiiiies getting their putrefying heads smashed. But most of the games I enjoyed most were the puzzle type..point-and-click..games like The Longest Journey and Syberia. I played them and replayed them..and I listened to the music from the games like all night long. Used to sleep two hours per night. :)).

And then I remembered this.

Can you imagine sweeter sounds..??

Can you imagine blissfulness..an inner peace that cannot be interrupted by anything? Music is a remedy..it is a way to escape this wicked reality that gets at you sometimes. It is a remedy for a broken soul..for a destroyed heart. Music brings out memories but also helps you create new ones. It has messages. Many hidden messages. At certain points a song can mean a thing. At some other it develops another significance.

Welcome to Barrockstadt. We all are searching for a lost town.

Gaming Sessions: Clive Barker’s Jericho

Clive Barker is a contemporary fantasy/horror author whose works [mostly short stories] have been adapted into films and video-games. Some long time ago I played Undying which told a very interesting story and perfectly combined the fantasy and horror genres. With a rich plot just like Undying but with a unique story-telling method attached was created Jericho [released back in 2007].

Before giving life to the human race, God created in His image the Firstborn – a creature that was neither male nor female, dark nor light and both beautiful and abominable. Disturbed by His creation, God send it into the Abyss – where it would be forgotten. But in the dark, the creature grew stronger and wanted to return in the mortal realm.

The game tells the story of a group of 7 warriors trained in both conventional and occult warfare that are send to stop the release of the Firstborn in the human world.

With a great sense of detail, the plot takes you into a dangerous and unnatural world, filled with evil creatures and unexpected situations.
